The Final Evaluation
Finally, the marathon race is about to come to an end.
The Final Evaluation (FE) day is designed to give candidates opportunities to demonstrate their skills and abilities. It is an in-person assessment, which means that candidates would be required to come to a physical location.
It usually comes up in Lagos, but this may change. You would receive information about the date, time, and venue from the RSM team.
On your final evaluation, you would usually participate in two main activities. They are; Group Discussion and a One on One Interview.
Group Activity
Group activity is usually the first stage of your assessment. All candidates will be placed in groups. You will be presented with hypothetical scenarios and expected to proffer solutions to a case study.
During this session, ensure that you participate actively. Think before you speak. The hypothetical question might be a problem statement. Do not dwell on the problem or reasons why certain things would not work. Let your contribution reflect that you have a growth mindset.
Ensure that you give room to other candidates to speak.
One-on-One Interview
One-on-One Interview is the second stage of your assessment. You will participate in an interview session where your understanding of Teach for Nigeria as an organization, and other key competencies would be assessed. You should expect situational questions.
For example, what would you do to improve learning outcomes for a student who misses the first two periods because she comes to school late due to distance?
Another one could be, what would you do if any of your students were molested?
How would you discipline a notorious student?
Keep your answers as concise as possible.

Preparing for the Final Evaluation
Understand the mission and vision of the Teach for Nigeria Fellowship
Be sure of what you have in CV and Essay
At the initial stage of your application, you submitted your CV and answered some essay questions. Be sure that you can speak on what you have there if your assessor asks you a question from there.
Be professional
Teach for Nigeria is a reputable organization with zero tolerance for unprofessionalism. Be professional in your dress and manner of composure. Be comfortable in your clothing too, do not overdress.
Prepare one or two questions that you would ask your assessors after they are done with your interview. They would definitely ask if you have any questions for them.
It is fine if you do not have any questions for them, however, asking insightful questions makes you look interested, enthusiastic and engaged.
Conclusion
The summary of all of this is that Teach For Nigeria is looking for individuals who show evidence of the following:
- The desire to bring about change and make a concrete difference in the lives of students by eliminating educational inequity in Nigeria.
- Ability to take responsibility and lead others to a common goal.
- Ability to work through obstacles purposefully and relentlessly.
